Week with the Johnsons

The day after the funeral, we drove back to the west coast, stopping in Spokane for church, then driving on to Seattle to a hotel by the airport.  Brian drove on home, and David and I stayed they night and caught our flight the next morning to Denver.  This big map and cool information was in the Denver airport as we waited for our shuttle to take us to Colorado Springs.   Lisa and Chris had flown to Hawaii on Saturday so the kids had been on their own for a few days.

Our door was decorated with wonderful welcoming and loving messages from the grandkids!  

We had such a great week spending time with our grandchildren.  Fun to be there in their normal weekday activities, with school, cubs, school performances, sick kids etc.  We did watch a lot of movies and play many games of Oh Heck though!  David and Lisa and I had fun shopping too!

David set up an obstacle course for the kids with their motorized scooters and a bike and then timed them.  They had a lot of fun!  I tried those things, and it was trickier than I expected!

They tried a new recipe of making fudgesicles out of chocolate pudding.

Ryan was already to get to work at the Arby's near their home.

Luke is very ready and anxious to get to Cubs!!  What a cute cub!

Friday evening, Ryan invited some friends over, and what did we end up playing??  You guess it!

Some bowling fun on Saturday afternoon.

Poor Matthew was sick for a couple of days.  Here he is trying to have fun and then laying down.

Those girls sure like to get their grandpa going!  Just try stealing his shoe  and you are in for alot of tickles!

So fun that Katie was interested in learning to make bread so we did it a couple of times.

That's a happy Luke winning the Oh Heck game out of all of us!

This is the Broadmoor!  It is a very cool resort in Colorado Springs.  

Lisa gave me a visit to the spa for my Christmas present.  We spent several hours enjoying the spa life and relaxing, visiting, and a great massage!  It was such a fun thing to do together.  David dropped us off and then came back (although he did leave very far) to pick us up.

We went to the sauna for a while, then to the oxygen room, then to our massages.  It is such a classy old place.

We walked around the hotel and grounds afterwards enjoying the ambiance.

Then we went out for lunch at Kneaders.  Great day!

Naida's Funeral

Naida Ruby Harding Walton passed away on January 9th 2016 on her 92nd birthday.  It was a blessing that she passed since she had been in a bad state of dementia for over a year.  It was great to gather in Cardston for her funeral.  All our children except Lisa was able to get there.  Lisa was on her way to Hawaii.  Amy, Dan, and Mike flew into Calgary, and Scott drove, and Brian drove out with David and I.  On the Friday evening, we met at the funeral home for the viewing, and to share memories with the family.  

So nice that Bryce and Sandy could take a few days off their mission to attend the funeral.

Saturday morning at the chapel across from the temple, we set everything up for the viewing and display of her life. It was so beautiful out with light snow coming down.

It was really special to greet many old friends and David's relatives.
