Ride to Semiahmoo

Last Saturday evening we took a ride over the border to mail a letter and then take a little ride. It was a gorgeous evening, the countryside was beautiful. We went to the Semiahmoo Resort area that you can see across the water from White Rock beach.

I had made some sandwiches for dinner, not knowing exactly where we would be at dinner time. We ate them here, looking over the bay. Here are some cool shots of the area.

They have a large marina that looked beautiful in the evening light. My poor helmut hair--plus a little breeze--just something I have to ignore, if David can.

Day with Janet and Terry

We started our visit with Wolseys at their community pool. We bobbed around in the water and visited. Molly loved noodles and swimmies. David -in his rarely seen swimming suit...he did get in. And Terry...funny guy.
Then we went to Thanksgiving Point to the farm. Janet is working there as a counselor for children's groups. She takes them around to see the animals and even drives this tractor, pulling them around the area. She really enjoys it.
We sure enjoyed showing the animals to Molly and Foster. It was a really fun day.

Quickutz tour

We met Amy at the end of her work on Thursday. Dad hadn't seen the new place yet so it was fun to see everything and meet some co-workers..
What an awesome organized crop room to create and display.
Amy, you are amazing! So talented and you can tell, well liked and appreciated at work.

Church History Museum

We enjoyed an afternoon at the Church History Museum which is across the street from Temple Square. We had lunch with Scott but then he had to go back to work. Too bad.
This is the actual printing press that printed the first Book of Mormon. Very cool to see and contemplate.

In the I Am a Child fo God section, there were various hands-on displays for the kids to do. Molly is taking care of the new-born babies that had come to earth from Heavenly Father.

Here is the Lehi's Dream Display. Molly is holding on to the Iron Rod, and Foster is on the Straight and Narrow Path. We are proud of them!

Molly is making her own stained glass picture.

This is the area that showed how the Tabernacle was built. Dad loved it! Molly is at the pulpit.

Good-byes

We drove Brian to the MTC via Rexburg to say bye to Mike. He was not only happy to visit with Mike, but also to be in Rexburg. He says he can't wait to get back there. We picked up Mike at work and went out for lunch, dropped off some things at his house, went to the BYU-I bookstore, and the distribution center.

Amy came up to Scott's, and Elisha had made us a great meal to enjoy all together for the last time.... for awhile.

We went to the mall for some last minute purchases....approved music and more white shirts.

A sweet good-bye hug.

The farewell at the MTC was organized and quick. They direct you to a numbered curb space, and a volunteer older couple and a couple of Elders are there to assist in helping you take a couple final pictures and escort the new Elder away. The sister there said that one picture parents like to get is their missionary pulling their suitcases away.....clever, huh. You say, "oh yes, we'd like one of those" ... And away he goes.

Open House

We held an Open House for Brian the night before we left. Here's some of the goodies...some good friends added more to it.

It was special to have people come and wish him well and say good-bye.

Sunday July 5th -- Setting Apart

Brian was set apart as a missionary by our stake president... President Soll. It was a beautiful blessing.

A Few Random Moments

Grandpa had some fun learning Duck Hunt. It is addicting.

They love their Grandpa.

So messy but so happy.

Grandpa tied the kite onto Foster's shoe...it actually lifted his foot off the ground a few times.

Grandma and Grandpa had a great time with the cow race on the Wii.

Golden Ears Outing

It was a perfect day for a hike..or long walk to the lower falls. We had fun playing by the river's edge and throwing rocks in the water.

Fos would move rocks as fast as he could to get at the gravel and dirt, and I would try to put the rocks back as fast as I could so he wouldn't. He is very focused and persistant. It was cute.
