Service Road 027 Jeep Trip

Today I volunteered to work at the Deseret Meat Packing Plant in Spanish Fork so I decided to take the long road home on the East side of the mountains.  There is a dirt and rock service road 027 that is very fun to take in a Jeep.  It is a little longer than I thought.  It is a very rough and bone jarring road but it is enjoyable.

Jeep Trip

This was really the first day that Mary and I went for a real Jeep adventure. On my own I had driven up to this area before and so I wanted Mary to be able to experience it with me.  We went up to Heber Utah and then followed Center Street east to the Uinta National Forest. The area was crisscrossed with dirt trails that go through the forest so it was a great place to drive around and enjoy the scenery.

Mike and Carly--Sea to Sky Day

 First stop of the day is Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver.  Nice little hike down to the rocky point.

 Then drove the scenic Marine drive to Whytecliff Park for some bocci and lunch.

 Then took them down to the shore which one guy didn't appreciate....wanted them to go somewhere else.

 Then on to Shannon Falls and the Chief mountain up ahead.

 Then Mike, Carly, and Brian were heading off on the Sea to Sky trail up to the top where the gondola would bring them back that night.  It was a 7.2 km hike going up, up, up!  They said it was amazing!!

 David and I drove back while they left at about 4:00 pm.  Great day!

Mike and Carly--Bridal Veil, Alexandra Bridge, Othello Tunnels

Brian took a day off work to come with us on a day's exploring and photography.  That was one of Mike's main goals of this trip was getting some great photos!  We headed east toward Hope.  We stopped first at Bridal Veil Falls....haven't been there in a long time, and it was so beautiful!!   It was lightly raining so I had my umbrella, but everything was so fresh and colors so vibrant!

Then on to Hope where we got into one car and went up the #1 Hiway towards Hell's Gate.  We stopped at a place Mike had found in his research called the Alexandra Bridge, which was used back in the 20s and now theres a new bridge and this is just a foot bridge and great photo shoot area.

It was just really cool with the Fraser River rushing below, swirling around.  You could easily see it through the grates in the roadway.  It was scary holding your cell phone because if you dropped it, it might go through!

And the cloud cover made for great pictures!

Next on to the Othello Tunnels which we love!

Such an awesome river!

The Othello tunnels used to be a railroad built through this steep and dangerous canyon and is now open for the public to enjoy.

No, he didn't build it....it was already there.

THEN, David brought the bubbles!  What a unique place to do bubbles.  We had so much fun because the conditions were perfect.....no other people, high humidity, no wind, and the scenery incredible!

The bubbles lasted forever!!  They would do a whole circle or more slowly before it would pop or slowly go over the edge and still wouldn't pop for a long time.  So fun!

David and I left about 8:30 and brought one car home, while the other three stayed another hour to get some more great shots.
