London part 2

This is the British Museum with it's remarkable collection that spans over thousands of years of history.  There was just soooo much to see and it was huge.  The building is amazing too.

We all felt pretty much like Katie part- way through.

David was walking back to the apartment and came across this cool place, but as he started to go in to look around, he was told that it was not public property.  Cool, though, huh.

Lisa and I visited the Victoria & Albert Museum.  It had so odd things like this gorilla made from coat hangers,  and also many old, old things like the columns and statues from all over the world.

Then Lisa and I went to the Natural history Museum on the same street, where Chris, Ryan and Katie were.

Another amazing building!  By this time we were hungry and thought we'd try and find the crepe place that Amy and Mike had gone in but didn't buy, and later found out from Mike's friend that it was THE best place to get crepes in London!  So Mike texted his friend for us to point us in the right direction, and sure enough....it was Soooo Good!

That night was the theater again!!  This time we saw Les Miserables.  I have always wanted to see that one, so what better place than in London where it has been playing for 25 years straight.  Alfie Boe was Jean Valjean, and it was AMAZING!  Loved it.

The next day we went to the Tower of London.  We really enjoyed the tour of the place and all the history.

The tour guides are hilarious....and really keep you entertained and informed.

William Bligh of "Mutiny on the Bounty" had lived in this house, so we thought that was picture-worthy.

We were all looking forward to the British War Museum, but probably not as much as David.  It was very well done and very interesting!  Dad stayed longer there, while the rest of us went to the London Eye and walked around.

Thanks to these fun hosts, who got us all over London, using the crazy Tube, the buses, and our feet!  It was packed with loads of fun!!  So fun to have Katie and Ryan with us too.

London part 1

We flew into London Monday morning and took the train into town to find our place.  Barely settled in and started our exploring of London.  We wen't far from the Parliament building, Big Ben, and Westminster Abby so we stated there.

We loved going through Westminster Abby. It was fascinating with so much history! but we weren't allowed to take pictures so the gift shop shows we were there.

We found a cute pub that we checked out for lunch.  All the pubs are so quaint with so much character.

This was interesting....written on the menu.  We found one of those vaults to sit in for lunch.  It was great.

That evening we went to see Wicked!  We had awesome seats, and the whole thing was wonderful.  Thank you everybody for that treat.  

We took the red doubledecker bus to the National Art Museum the next morning.

David was fascinated by everything transportation-wise.   The rental bikes,  the different cars, all the buses and taxis.  I loved the taxis....they were so British.
