Strasbourg, France

On Tuesday, October 23rd, Lisa, the two little boys, David and I drove an hour and a half to the French city of Strasbourg.  Strasbourg is a fun, charming mixture of old and new, and combination of French and German styles.  We were mostly in the downtown older town part so it has a real vintage, quaint feel with lots of waterways......but then will have modern transportation all around.

The out-door cafes have a unique feature....they like to sit facing the street or plaza.

It was a grey cold day, but at least it didn't rain a bit, so that was good.

David did not think this would fit into the lock canal....but it did.

This huge cathedral looked so odd to be crowded with all the other buildings so close to it.   It is an amazing cathedral.  We didn't get nearly as good of pictures of it as Lisa, or Brian, or Mike!

Great candy-cookie shop and the boys all picked some things they wanted.

We enjoyed some leisurely shopping along this street taking turns with the boys outside.

 What would two little boys be doing outside the bakery below, while all those people are looking in???

Well, there was a little incident involving one of those little boys and the glass partition on the counter....it wasn't anchored to the counter so when a little hand reached up to see better, over it came on top of him and exploded into all those pieces.  Luckily he wasn't hurt, although he cried.  The employees hurried around and swept and swept and kept the rest of the people out until it was cleaned up.  One employee was on the phone with her boss and then told Lisa to wait until the police came! ( in broken English)

 They wanted all the information so the bakery could report the claim to their insurance.

 What a way to end a great day in Strasbourg, France.
