Trip to Alberta

It had been awhile since we had seen Grandma and Grandpa in Cardston...especially considering the challenges they had been going through, so we thought the Victoria Day weekend would be a good time to go.  Things get very busy in the summer, so this would be quick, but good.   We decided to go the Canadian route this time and stop and visit Bryce and Sandy on the way out, and Dianne and Jeff on the way back.  It is such a beautiful drive and we found ourselves reviewing many wonderful memories.  Here we are driving past Shuswap Lake, where Grandma and Grandpa had a cabin for many years.  Many fun trips here!!

(we didn't take our regular camera this trip, so we used our phones....we learned that David's iPhone takes better quality pictures than my Samsung....or maybe its the photographer)

 Just past the lake is this dairy where we'd love to stop for ice cream.  It is still sooo good!

 Mt Eisenhower below.  David has memories of hiking up behind this range as a teenager where there is a lake, and where they would push boulders off the edge and see them break trees on the way down.

We stayed at Bryce and Sandy's new house (no picture) in Calgary that is very near the new Calgary Temple.  They are ordinance workers there and are loving it.  They had just returned from a trip to New York City and Church history sites, so we got to hear about that.

 We stopped at a small town on the way to Cardston that had this museum and memorial for the airforce  military of WWII.  It was pretty good.  We had driven past it many times, but stopped this time.  David said to the the clerk as we were leaving, that if there had been half as many of us, we would have stayed twice as long. Yep.

 We had an enjoyable visit with Grandma and Grandpa Walton and Janet and Terry, who live a couple of doors down the street. It is so nice that they are there to help both their parents in their later-years challenges.  We watched Celtic Thunder DVD that they wanted us to see, played Rook, watched 17 Miracles, that we wanted them to see, visited, and ate. We also showed off our children's many talents with pictures and videos.  David also fixed their computer.

 David went with Grandpa to his Monday bocci group at the park and had some great games,  Official rules!
while Janet and I had a fun visit at home with Grandma, who joined in a little.

We left Cardston Monday afternoon and drove back to Calgary to see Dianne and family.  Jeff had just bought a new bike, so he and David went for an hour ride in the foothills, which he said was great!

 They stopped to look around at the small airport where Jeff flies from.

 Dianne and I had a great visit.  She had prepared so well for us, I felt a little guilty.....afterall, we are family. She wouldn't let us help at all.   It was very nice.

 We had a great salmon dinner!

 Jeffrey and his fiancée Lauren live in Victoria right now, but he was out for the weekend with his new dog, to visit with Joe, who was in town.  Lindsey couldn't come over because he was staying with her.  We would love to have seen her and her new baby.  (picture isn't clear, but it's all we have.)

 We also met Kyle's girlfriend, visited for a while, then they were off downstairs to play games.  It was very nice to get caught up with the family here.  It is wonderful to see Dianne and Jeff so happy.
