First off, I didn't get enough pictures of this time, but it was a very wonderful time, filled with love and support. We loved having visitors here while we were going through some challenges. Amy, Chris and Jane and Peter arrived first. So fun to see, hold and play with those two darling grandchildren. Lisa, Megan and Emily flew into Bellingham the next day.....so great to have them come!! Then to our surprise, Brian showed up on Thursday evening! We didn't go and do a lot during their stay, except for a couple of very fun shopping trips. David's surgery was on Friday, June 13th at 8:00 am. Lisa and I drove him to False Creek Clinic downtown at 6:30. We came back home and waited for the call to go pick him up. That was at 1:00 pm. It seemed too soon to me, but we managed to get him home and up to bed.
He played with Peter the night before the surgery.
So fun to have Megan and Emily here. They loved helping and taking care of Jane and Peter!
Father's Day was during this time. He (we) got the treasured yearly family picture book!
Lisa got him some miniature look-alike shoes! He loves them.
The Silva Family on their way back to Utah, then California, then on to Indianapolis to start a life there!!
One of my reminder notes left around the house to my dear David.
Dan and Sarah and family came on Monday the 23rd of June...at 7:00 AM!! We were still in bed and I hear a knock on the door and see little people through the glass on the door! Dan had driven through the night and made really good time. They slept for a couple of hours, then were ready to go and do stuff!
One day we went to Granville Island. Such a fun place to go and hang out for a while.
A stop for lunch at our favourite corner table with the great view.
We just couldn't resist the temptation to try some of these goodies!
On our way home, we stopped by Queen Elizabeth Park for a little walk around the beautiful gardens.
Wednesday, we loaded up the bikes (Dan and family had brought theirs up) and headed downtown to Stanley Park to ride the seawall. I think everyone else decided to do that too, because there were many bikes out!! We just took our time, though and had a great time.
Dan and Sarah got really good pictures of our ride.....hopefully they post theirs!
Going through some stuff in the crawl space, we found some old wooden craft pieces that the kids wanted to paint, so paint they did!! Even though by then it had turned quite cool outside.
David was slowly moving about trying to heal, and decided he needed to have some fun right there at home, since he couldn't go with us on our adventures. He set up the fire pot, and we had some fun sitting out around the fire, telling stories, and roasting marshmallows.
Thanks all those who came up to visit us during this time.....it was so wonderful!!
