We had a great drive down through southern Utah and into Arizona. Started out with snow just south of Provo. We enjoyed the beautiful red rocks, mountains and desert. We stopped at Glen Canyon Dam and did the tour after Mike suggested going this way so we could do that.
Then we stopped at the famous Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River. It's a little hike to get there, but worth it and it was a beautiful day!
When we drove up to Mike and Carly's place, I saw Mike ready to take a picture of us as we got out so I grabbed my camera to take a picture of him!!
We stayed at the Porter's home, Carly's parents, which wasn't far. They have a lovely home. It was great to visit with them and get to know them and talk about our kids!
The next morning we went with to see Carly's new studio. She has great plans to make it into something really special. Pretty exciting!
Then on to Mike's work at the Golf Tank. Fun to have him show us all the cool things in the building and to meet people that he works with.
That afternoon we picked up Brian at the airport and went to visit with some of his converts from his mission. That was awesome! We met Robin and Phyllis, and later, Lorraine. That was really special to meet these women and hear how much they loved and appreciated Elder Walton! After that, we drove to the Mesa Temple to walk around until time to meet the others for Carly's birthday dinner.
Thursday morning we went to the Phoenix Zoo. Beth, Carly's sister in law works there and got us all in free and then gave us a tour telling all about the zoo. So kind of her to do that for us!
Beth got us in to the giraffe feeding, and later the sting ray petting!
Giraffes have very long tongues.
We had sandwiches here and had fun feeding all the chipmunks or little gophers.
