Polley Sibling (Golden Ears, Britannia Mine, Shannon Falls)

Monday was Victoria Day so Brian was all work and able to come with us to Golden Ears Provincial Park.  It was overcast with a forecast of showers but we decided to take a chance and it was just fine!

 Us being crazy!!

It was so beautiful with the low clouds and colors so vibrant!

Love the moss on the trees!

Stopped at  Allouette Lake to do some bubbles and we had a large group of kids surrounding in no time.  It started to sprinkle and the kids were starting to throw rocks to pop the bubbles so we left.
Out for lunch at White Spot, then had to get Jim and Susan to Bellingham for their flight home.
The next day we went up the Sea to Sky to see the Britannia Mine.  We've driven past it for years and had never gone on the tour, so we decided to try it.  It was a really big copper mine from 1920 to 1974.  It was very interesting but pricey.

Above are the stacks and stacks of core samples and below is one of the cars for transporting the miners down into the mine.....not too comfortable.

They used gravity to get the ore from the top of the mine, processed and down to where it could be put on ships.  Very cool inside this place!

Down the road five minutes and a ten minute walk, is Shannon Falls.  We had a picnic lunch here even though it was a little chilly.

Another fun day.  The next day I took them to Mercana and gave them the tour.  That was really fun.  Then went shopping.  What a great time we had together!
