Trip to Calgary....trip down memory lane!

David and I stopped for a little walk on our trip out to Calgary.  Little did we know what a walk down memory lane we would do on this trip.

Here is the Stake Center in Calgary on 17th Ave that David ....was baptized in....went to Stake dances in....was in Oklahoma and Promised Valley and other musical events in.  He was very excited to see it again and remember.

This is what the house looks like in 2010.  Lots of changes....but there also are in the people that lived there!

Below is the house on 27th Ave that Ken Walton started building before he was married.  He would write his girlfirend, Naida, and ask questions like "Where do you think the kitchen window should be, and how high should the kitchen counter be?"  The porch in front and the siding has been added so obscurs what the original house looked like.  While we were looking at the house, an old lady walks up with her dogs and goes in the driveway, wondering what all these people were doing looking at her house.  It turns out that she and her husband are the ones that bought the house from Ken Walton in 1953!!  And she still lives there.  She invited us in to have a look.  Many things in the house were still original.   She told the story of how the kitchen counter was much lower than most counters, so she had to have that fixed.  I quess it was just right for Naida.  Jim called Grandpa on the phone after we got out, and told him about our visit there. That was a really special experience.   David and Janet were the only ones that had lived here. 

Then we drove to the old Cresent Road Chapel which was a significant part of thier lives.  They actually helped build that building.  The chapel has this view of downtown Calgary.

Next is was on to the house on Utah Drive.  David was 16 or 17 when the family moved there.   That is the one I have memories of.....and maybe some of our childen do too.  The trees sure have grown, and they have added some changes to the house as well.

 We then went out to see the new Calgary temple site and then on to Dianne's wedding. It sure was a fun day together.
